171 countries team up for a COVID-19 vaccine

(VOVWORLD) - The World Health Organization said Friday that with the participation of China, South Korea, and Nauru this week, 171 nations have joined COVAX, a global effort to ensure universal access to vaccine against COVID-19.

Russia and the US have not joined COVAX yet.

There have been more than 36.8 million COVID-19 infections worldwide. More than 1 million people have died from the disease and nearly 28 million people have fully recovered. The US remains the world’s epicenter with more than 7.8 million COVID-19 patients and 217,000 deaths, followed by India and Brazil.
