The two Deputy Prime Ministers and Defense Ministers took part in a border marker repainting ceremony at Marker No. 460 and planted friendship trees.
The two delegations then attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a Joint Coordination Station at Border Guard Company 252 under the Bolikhamsai Provincial Military Command, a project funded by Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense.
They visited an elementary school in Xaychamphone District, Bolikhamsai Province and presented gifts and scholarships to the pupils, offered free medical examinations and medicines the locals, and donated breeding cattle to disadvantaged households in Laos' border areas.
Major General Nguyen Xuan Toan, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, said: "The Vietnam–Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange helps promote cooperation mechanisms, improve the effectiveness of national defense missions, and contribute to improving the living conditions of the border communities. Many meaningful activities are being carried out to make the event a true festival for border troops and residents."
After the successful exchanges held in 2021 and 2024, the Vietnam–Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange has become a hallmark of defense cooperation between the two countries.
This year, Vietnam and Laos will celebrate the 49th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam–Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 – July 18, 2026).
