The PM emphasized the need to focus resources on ensuring essential security needs, including energy security, food security, and human security. He affirmed that Vietnam is ready to provide food assistance in emergency situations, share relevant experience with other ASEAN member states, and continue close coordination in citizen protection efforts.

He stressed the importance of effectively implementing the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and accelerating the conclusion of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).

PM Hung called for more substantive cooperation to strengthen ASEAN’s internal capacity and resilience, while urging greater unity and coordination within the bloc, including improving the effectiveness of inter-sectoral consultation and coordination mechanisms in emergency situations and further enhancing the coordinating role of the ASEAN Secretariat.

He reaffirmed Vietnam’s support and commitment to working closely with the Philippines as ASEAN Chair and with other member states to realize the Philippines’ priorities and initiatives for 2026.

The summit agreed to issue an ASEAN leaders’ statement on priority actions to strengthen regional resilience in response to the spillover effects of the situation in the Middle East.

The statement reflects ASEAN’s political stance on the implications of developments in the Middle East, outlines the leaders’ vision for ASEAN’s role in the regional architecture, and sets out common strategies and practical measures for collectively addressing emerging challenges.
