Addressing the seminar titled "The role of Southeast Asian political parties in building the ASEAN community", FM Trung said that for the first time a meeting and exchange between political parties in Southeast Asia has taken place. Overcoming challenges, maintaining unity and strategic autonomy requires ASEAN cooperation through state, government, and parliamentary channels, and also by reinforcing the political foundations of each nation and political party, he added.
The forum consisted of three discussion sessions with nearly 20 insightful presentations from representatives of political parties, scholars, and experts from across the region. They said political parties in the region share a deep sense of responsibility for a peaceful, stable, and sustainable future for ASEAN. Delegates also demonstrated a shared determination to contribute to building the ASEAN Community.
Also within the framework of the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) 2026, on Monday, the ASEAN City Leaders Conference discussed solutions to promote smart urban development, digital transformation, green growth, and enhance the adaptability and resilience of cities to new challenges.
