The statement was made by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam during phone talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Friday.
PM Albanese said Australia wishes to further strengthen ties with Vietnam across the board and will continue to support the country’s reform efforts toward becoming a high-income nation by 2045.
He also stressed that Australia’s stability, security and prosperity are closely linked with Southeast Asia, with Vietnam among its leading partners, while reaffirming strong support for ASEAN centrality.
The two leaders agreed to boost political trust through regular high-level exchanges and contacts through all channels. They also pledged to deepen practical and effective cooperation in defense and security, trade and investment, science and technology, digital transformation, climate response, energy and maritime affairs.
Party leader and President To Lam expressed hope that the Australian Government would continue supporting the Vietnamese community in Australia, while helping bring Vietnamese cultural values closer to the Australian public.
