Vietnam and Belgium established diplomatic relations on March 22, 1973, and have maintained friendly ties ever since. The two countries regularly exchange high-level visits and hold meetings on the sidelines of multilateral forums.

Belgium is Vietnam’s sixth-largest trading partner in the European Union, while Vietnam is Belgium’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.
