At the talks, General Secretary and President Xi, who is on a state visit to the DPRK on Monday and Tuesday, expressed his readiness to take this visit as an opportunity to strengthen the strategic direction of China-DPRK relations in the new era. The Chinese leader emphasized that China and the DPRK are both Socialist countries led by the Communist Party, and traditional friendship and mutual support have been outstanding features of their relations.
The strategic guidance by the top leaders of both nations is the greatest strength of China-DPRK relations, he added, noting that he stands ready to maintain close strategic communication with Kim and guide China-DPRK relations to continuously reach new heights.
For his part, leader Kim said that General Secretary and President Xi's first foreign trip to Pyongyang this year shows the respect he has for China-DPRK relations and once again proves their close bonding. The DPRK will coordinate with China to implement the proposals of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, promoting new developments in exchange and cooperation between the two countries, he added.
