China pledges 2 billion COVID-19 vaccines globally

(VOVWORLD) - China will try to provide two billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to the world this year, and donate 100 million USD to the international vaccine distribution system COVAX, President Xi Jinping said Thursday.

China is currently dealing with a new COVID-19 wave, the most dangerous one since last spring, driven by the highly contagious Delta variant.

Weeks ago, Xi promised 3 billion USD to help developing countries fight COVID-19.
