China threatens to retaliate against any sanctions for Hong Kong-related issues

(VOVWORLD) - A Chinese official on Wednesday called some countries’ threat to impose sanctions for a new national security law for Hong Kong “the logic of bandits” Zhang Xiaoming, Deputy Chief of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, said at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday that national security law is an internal affair and there is no reason for other countries to second-guess China.

He said if the US uses the law as a pretext to impose sanctions on China, there will undoubtedly be retaliation.
