The top leader chaired a working session in Hanoi with the Government Party Committee and relevant agencies to review the Party’s Resolution No. 24 dated 2023 concerning climate change response, natural resource management and environmental protection,

Mr. Lam said that while addressing climate, environmental, and resource challenges, we must consider them as motivation to renew growth model, set up new economic sectors, new development spaces, and new competitive advantages for the country.

He stressed the need to clearly identify priority areas with the potential to create breakthroughs, like renewable energy, green agriculture, climate change mitigation infrastructure, environmental technology, and economic sectors based on natural ecosystems.

According to General Secretary and President Lam, “environmental protection and climate change adaptation are one of the pillars of the new development model identified by the 14th National Party Congress. The environment is not a cost of development; the environment is a condition for development. Investing in the environment is investing in the future; a strong shift from a reactive mindset to a proactive approach to development is needed.”

He proposed further clarifying strategic breakthroughs, especially in institutions, science and technology, and national governance; promoting the application of strategic technologies; and building a national digital data system on resources, environment, and climate.
