Do Huy Thong, Vice Chairman of the Co To District People’s Committee, said that the Festival is not only a sports competition but also a showcase of folk culture, solidarity and mutual support among island districts
It will promote tourism development while protecting the environment, and educating fishermen to follow fishing regulations, he said.
This is also an opportunity for Co To Island District to learn experience from southern localities to develop fishery logistics, according to Mr. Thong.
There were 6 racing teams from island districts of 5 provinces and cities. Van Don team won first prize; Bach Long Vi team won second prize; Ly Son and Phu Quy teams ranked third; host Co To and Con Dao received consolation prizes.
