North America has recorded the most cases, nearly 6.2 million, followed by Asia with more than 5.1 million, South America with 4.8 million, and Europe with more than 3 million.
The number of infections in Africa has now surpassed 1 million, while Oceania has recorded about 23,300.
The US is the worst-hit country with more than 5.24 million infections and 166,000 deaths, followed by Brazil and India.
