Bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms were maintained, with various delegation exchanges, dialogues, and border defense friendship programs organized. Vietnam also actively participated in ASEAN-led cooperation mechanisms and other international frameworks.
Deputy Minister Thang requested relevant agencies and units to strengthen strategic forecasting and advisory work, while deepening practical and effective defense cooperation with neighboring countries, strategic partners, comprehensive partners, and traditional friends. He also stressed the importance of enhancing coordination in multilateral defense diplomacy activities, particularly within ASEAN and other major international cooperation mechanisms.
He called for continued efforts in international integration, border diplomacy, war consequence remediation, United Nations peacekeeping operations, and defense friendship exchanges with other countries.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the need for thorough preparations for major defense diplomacy events scheduled this year, including high-level delegation exchanges, the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue, the 3rd Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange, and the organization of the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2026 in a modern and professional manner to further enhance Vietnam’s position and prestige in international defense cooperation.
