At a meeting on Monday in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Dung noted that the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation has seen significant progress. All levels and sectors have participated, but difficulties remain, he added, saying without breakthroughs and drastic action, it will be challenging to accomplish tasks.

"Identifying strategic industrial development linked to national development needs is an extremely important matter. The responsibility placed on ministries and sectors is immense. We must recognize this responsibility to the nation. So, it’s necessary to promptly review and refine the list of strategic technologies and strategic technology products in a more concise manner. Selecting the right technologies is decisive for national development and can be implemented immediately, avoiding waste of resources," Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said.

"It must be based on three factors: first, development needs; Second, enhanced competitiveness, advantages, and potential of these industries compared to other countries. Third, the ability to form value chains and markets."

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that a working group be established in April, with clearly defined responsibilities of each member for quarterly and monthly reviews. Each ministry and sector will identify strategic products in order of priority. The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Justice will coordinate to ensure the list is issued in April.
