The market was located in Nyala, the de facto capital of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), one of the two parties to the armed conflict that erupted in Sudan in mid-April 2023. The other is the internationally recognized Sudanese national army. Sources confirmed that all the victims were civilians.
According to a UN report, drone strikes across Sudan killed more than 300 people and injured hundreds of others in just three weeks in October.
