At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Loc Ha said that after its merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City is opening broader opportunities for EU partners in the fields of trade and investment, development cooperation, sci-tech, innovation, green logistics, international financial center, climate change response, education-training, culture-arts, and people-to-people exchanges.
The EU's commitments and vision for sustainable development, combined with HCMC's dynamic, open, and creative spirit, will create successful economic cooperation projects with immense value for the community, he added.
Ambassador Julien Guerrier, Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, said that for decades, the EU and Vietnam have built a deep and forward-looking partnership, with stronger economic ties. The EU is building strong, equitable, and solid partnerships for the future across Latin America, the Indo-Pacific, Africa, and especially within ASEAN, with Vietnam being a first mover in agreements signed with the EU.
Ambassador Guerrier said the EU is a partner providing capital and technology to support Vietnam's economic growth aspirations in various fields such as secure communications, energy infrastructure, transport, key materials, semiconductors, and AI.
