French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a speech on national television, calling Chirac a "great Frenchman" who had "embodied" France. Richard Ferrand, the French National Assembly leader, said Chirac is a part of France’s history.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Chirac was one of the statesmen he admires most and called Chirac "wise and far-sighted”. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailed Chirac as "a formidable political leader who shaped the destiny of his nation." German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman, Steffen Seibert, quoted her in a tweet as saying that she was "very sad" about Chirac's death. Merkel said "he was an outstanding partner and friend to us Germans and to me personally".
