Association Chairman Nguyen Huu Chinh said that although the war ended more than 50 years ago, the devastating consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin continue to affect millions of Vietnamese people across generations. “Hundreds of thousands have died, while many others still suffer from serious illnesses, pain, and poverty caused by exposure to toxic chemicals during the war.”
The commemorative activities are not only an occasion to honor and remember the victims, but also a call for greater compassion, responsibility, and support from communities both in Vietnam and around the world for Agent Orange/dioxin victims, he said.
“This year’s message, ‘Walking Together with Compassion,’ highlights the shared commitment of the political system, the public, and international friends to support Agent Orange/dioxin victims. It is not only about solidarity, but also about mobilizing resources, knowledge, and responsibility to better assist those affected,” said Mr. Chinh.
This year’s support initiatives for the victims include direct donations to account 1961 at Military Bank and participation in the online charity run on topplay.vn. Nearly 42,000 USD has been raised on this occasion.
