Ghani wins afghan presidential election, preliminary results show

(VOVWORLD) - Afghanistan’s Independent Electoral Complaints Commission announced on Sunday that President Ashraf Ghani appears set to win a second term, after preliminary election results showed he was on course to win a narrow majority.

He secured more than 50% of the vote in the September 28 election. Mr Ghani's main rival, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, won more than 39% of the vote.
