The pilot covers part of Hoan Kiem ward and is divided into two zones. In Zone 1, which includes the Hoan Kiem lake pedestrian area, the Old Quarter and the Hoan Kiem Night Market, all motorbikes, motorcycles and cars will be banned from 7 p.m. to midnight every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except for military and police vehicles.
Zone 2 covers the wider Old Quarter, where restrictions on fossil fuel-powered vehicles will be introduced gradually.
The city has established four transfer hubs and will offer free public bus services within Ring Road 1 through June 30, 2027, to encourage residents to use public transport.
