Phase one began in February 2026, with 1,837 AI-powered cameras installed at 195 intersections throughout the city, and has shown improvements in several traffic management indicators. Phase two, in addition to more AI cameras, will add servers, electronic traffic information display, intelligent traffic signal controllers, and better transmission infrastructure.

Lieutenant Colonel Dao Viet Long, deputy head of the Traffic Police Division, said: "For phase two, our command center has been upgraded. We have increased the number of cameras to nearly 5,000, which improve our ability to monitor traffic and detect violations. The system can adjust traffic light cycles in real time, which will help improve traffic flow and increase road capacity, especially at a time when so many key infrastructure projects are underway. The system will issue public alerts and connect with the Command Center to recommend safe and efficient travel route."
