At an international press briefing in Hanoi on Tuesday, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong said that, in addition to several ASEAN prime ministers, this year’s forum will for the first time welcome representatives from more than 10 political parties and around 20 cities and localities across the region.

Mr. Cuong said the forum aims to promote high-level and in-depth dialogue while sharing perspectives to strengthen cooperation on emerging regional issues.

"It also sends a message of a dynamic, peaceful and globally integrated Vietnam as a responsible and active member of ASEAN,” he noted.

This year’s event will feature several new activities, including dialogues among Southeast Asian political parties and discussions on artificial intelligence governance and fintech. A key highlight will be a conference bringing together leaders of major ASEAN cities.

The ASEAN Future Forum was launched by Vietnam in 2024 as an initiative to create an open, inclusive and forward-looking platform for leaders, scholars and businesses to discuss strategic issues facing ASEAN and the wider region.
