The city put 16,000 beds into use on Sunday morning.
The Department of Construction said it will prepare up to 40,000 beds for COVID-19 treatment and about 20,000 beds to quarantine people having close contact with COVID-19 patients. Up to 11,500 beds are ready for use now.
