Speaking at a meeting with local officials on Friday, Holger Luedorf, Google Maps' Global Partnerships Executive, said Vietnam is a strategic partner for Google, with services such as Gemini, Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps widely used in the country.

He said Google has recently worked with the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Construction on sustainable transportation initiatives, including integrating public transit services, real-time transport data and payment methods into Google Maps.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, said the city's expansion following recent administrative restructuring has created new infrastructure and governance demands. He urged both sides to soon sign a smart transportation cooperation agreement and expand collaboration in startups, AI and innovation.
