In his remarks, General Secretary and President Lam emphasized that amid the fierce global technological competition, the implementation of Resolution No 57 is not only a matter of overcoming the risk of falling behind but also crucial for strategic autonomy and national security. He pointed out that the focus of digital transformation must be to strongly promote digital transformation in businesses and throughout society. Genuine digital transformation must solve the problem of accurate, complete, clean, active, and interconnected data, improve management methods, and enhance labor productivity based on a workforce with digital skills.
“The core of science is creating new knowledge. The core of technology is transforming knowledge into tools. The core of innovation is transforming tools into new value for society. These three elements must meet in the practical development of the country. Therefore, resources must be focused on to master national strategic technologies and develop them into concrete products. We must set goals for the next one, three, five, and ten years: what technologies we will master, what products we will have, what we will export, and what percentage we will contribute to growth, national defense, national security, and national self-reliance,” Mr. Lam said.
The Party and State leader suggested that businesses be positioned as the center of the innovation ecosystem, the place for applying and commercializing research results. He added that large economic groups need to play a pioneering role in mastering core technologies, shaping the brand of Vietnamese technology on the international stage; and the education sector should prepare a technological workforce for the future starting now.
