In a message posted on X on Wednesday, Araghchi said that while its armed forces are fully prepared for a possible resumption of hostilities, Iran is still giving diplomacy a chance to ease tensions with the US.

Under the seven-day roadmap, which Iran sent to the US through Qatari mediation late last month, Tehran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming negotiations with Washington within a week, provided the US met Iran’s demands.

Under the proposed sequence, the US would take agreed steps during the first five days, including ending hostilities on all fronts, lifting the naval blockade, easing restrictions on crude oil exports, and releasing Iran’s frozen assets.

On the sixth day, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz to normal commercial shipping. On the seventh day, the two countries would begin negotiations on a comprehensive peace agreement.
