The prospects for an agreement remain uncertain, as Tehran says Washington’s response has failed to meet its demands, while regional sources reported little meaningful progress in the negotiations.
Talks between the United States and Iran are stuck, two regional sources told The Jerusalem Post. In recent days, efforts were made to achieve a breakthrough in negotiations between Tehran and Washington and to secure significant progress that could avert an American military strike. The efforts involved several mediators, including Qatar, Russia, and China.
The United States and Iran are committed to mediation efforts and are reviewing proposals aimed at bridging their differences, Qatar said on Tuesday. It said there had been developments in talks with both sides, and that efforts to narrow gaps were continuing.
However, Iran’s national security chief Mohsen Rezaei said on X that the US response to the country’s demands “was not convincing” and that Washington must fully and explicitly address and act upon Tehran’s conditions.
