In a message posted on X, Araghchi stressed that Clause 13 of the preliminary agreement, known as the Islamabad Memorandum, signed by Iran and the US, explicitly states that negotiations on a final agreement cannot proceed while threats continue.

Araghchi’s statement has fueled concerns among analysts and the media that a new round of US-Iran talks, tentatively scheduled to take place in Pakistan later this week, could be delayed or even collapse.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported on Tuesday that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had attacked an oil tanker after the vessel allegedly failed to comply with navigation warnings. It is the first reported attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz this month.
