Attending the ceremony were Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan, Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh, and Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung.
Minister Tuan emphasized that achieving Vietnam’s double-digit growth target for 2026 would place significant pressure on growth in the remaining months of the year. He noted that one of the key solutions linked to Petrovietnam’s operations is boosting extraction activities, particularly oil and gas production.
He urged the group to review its development strategy amid ambitious growth targets and increasingly complex global geopolitical developments, while proposing improvements to policies and institutional frameworks. He also called on Petrovietnam to accelerate major projects and promptly remove implementation bottlenecks.
Petrovietnam, and related agencies congratulate Petrovietnam’s newly-appointed General Director Le Manh Cuong.
Petrovietnam Chairman Le Ngoc Son said that despite global market volatility over the past five months, the group had maintained stable operations, ensured national energy security, and achieved important growth indicators laying the foundation for double-digit growth in 2026.
However, he acknowledged ongoing challenges, including rising input costs, supply chain disruptions, bottlenecks in gas-to-power consumption, risks in oil refining and petrochemicals, and institutional constraints requiring flexible and decisive management reforms.
According to Chairman Son, the appointment of Le Manh Cuong is especially important in strengthening the group’s executive capacity and governance as Petrovietnam pursues its 2026 and 2026-2030 development goals. He added that the group aims to rank among the world’s Top 500 enterprises by 2030 and is striving to meet OECD governance standards by the end of 2026.
In his remarks, Mr. Cuong pledged to work closely with the leadership team to uphold Petrovietnam’s traditions, resilience, and aspirations.
He emphasized priorities including improving production and business efficiency, promoting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and strengthening the group’s core role in ensuring national energy security and contributing to Vietnam’s economic growth.
Le Manh Cuong is a marine control engineer with a master’s degree in economic management specializing in the oil and gas sector, along with advanced political theory qualifications. He has held numerous management and executive positions within Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries, including a long tenure at PTSC before becoming Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam.
He previously served as General Director of PTSC and participated in managing various international projects and businesses in Singapore, Malaysia, and other markets, gaining extensive experience in corporate governance, oil and gas technical services, overseas expansion, and large-scale project implementation.
As Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam, he oversaw strategic areas including oil and gas exploration and production, energy transition, renewable energy, and new energy development. He was also put in charge of the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Project, which is considered strategically important to Vietnam’s national energy security
