Speaking at a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday, Ms Hang said the earthquakes have drawn widespread international attention, including from Vietnam.
She said: “Upon learning of the earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela on Wednesday, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam sent a message of sympathy to the Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, who is currently visiting Venezuela, also conveyed his condolences directly."
“Based on the longstanding traditional friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela, Vietnam stands ready to provide appropriate support to Venezuela if needed,” she said.
She added that the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela is maintaining close coordination with local authorities and relevant agencies to closely follow developments and take timely measures to support and protect Vietnamese citizens should any be affected by the earthquakes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advised Vietnamese nationals requiring urgent assistance to contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela or the Ministry’s citizen protection hotline.
