Vietnamese consul general Lai Xuan Chien said at a Tet get-together on Tuesday for overseas Vietnamese in the northwest and southwest region of Cambodia that Vietnam-Cambodia relations continued to be promoted last year in all fields.

Tran Van Nam, President of the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Preah Sihanouk province, said he hopes the lives of Vietnamese people in Cambodia will be more stable and their businesses will grow.

“We hope the issue of their identification documents will be satisfactorily resolved by the government," said Nam.

At a Lunar New Year program on Tuesday in Bangkok, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh praised the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Thailand to promoting friendly relations between the two countries.

“I’m appreciative of Article 18 of the 2013 Constitution, which clearly states that the Vietnamese community living abroad is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese ethnic community. We are always proud that we are Vietnamese, the descendants of the Hung Kings," Ninh Viet Thong, Vice Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese People in Bangkok and Surrounding Areas, said.
At a similar event organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique, a representative of the Vietnamese community said the September visit to Mozambique by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan demonstrated the fine development of bilateral relations and was a premise for the Vietnamese community to do business there.

A representative of Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam's Viettel Group and Mozambique's SPI company, said that last year his company gained many achievements in revenue, attracting more Mozambican people to join the Movitel network and use the e-Mola wallet.
