As G24 Chair, Aurangzeb underscored the need to give developing countries a greater voice in shaping global economic policies, especially at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

He outlined three key priorities for Pakistan’s chairmanship: first, putting sustainable development at the heart of international economic policies, with macroeconomic stability serving as the foundation for investment, productivity growth and job creation.

Second is to promote governance reforms at multilateral financial institutions to ensure more meaningful participation and a fairer voice for developing countries.

Third is to advocate greater access to affordable development financing, sustainable debt solutions, stronger climate finance support, and the mobilization of resources from both the public and private sectors.

Established in 1971, G24 is a coalition of developing countries to coordinate their positions on international monetary and financial issues. It operates through consultations and the development of common positions, particularly in engagement with the IMF and the World Bank.
