During a meeting at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canberra on Thursday, Mr. White said that AVBCQ is promoting the implementation of three investment projects in Vietnam, including: building a wool manufacturing plant, introducing a gluten-free food production enterprise, and connecting Australian with Vietnamese enterprises in hospital operation.
The wool factory project, valued at 57 million USD, involves building one plant in northern Vietnam and another in southern Vietnam with a total capacity of 20 to 25 million kilograms per year. Ninety-five percent of the wool produced in Vietnam will be exported to European markets.
AVBCQ has proposed connecting Australian business councils with each ASEAN member state to form a network that supports business activities. Mr. White noted that many leaders of Queensland, including the State Minister for Trade, are very interested in promoting cooperation with Vietnam.
Ambassador Pham Hung Tam supported the idea of establishing a network of business councils to form production and supply chains between Australian and ASEAN enterprises, and intends to engage with ambassadors or heads of ASEAN missions in Canberra to realize this idea. Ambassador Tam pledged to strengthen cooperation in areas where Queensland has strong potential, such as quantum computing, ocean research, energy, education, and tourism.
