The top leader requested that the draft strategy adhere to four major guiding principles, including steadfastly upholding the Party's ideological foundation while strongly innovating the methods of ideological work.
Steadfastness is necessary to avoid deviation; innovation is needed to avoid falling behind, he said. The more modern the methods of ideological work become, the more solid it must be in terms of politics, ideology, principles, and goals.
“Ideological work is not just about communication and education, but also about preparing social awareness, creating policy consensus, consolidating discipline in implementation, summarizing practical experience, developing theory, and protecting the prestige and trust in the Party, the State, and the regime," Party and State leader Lam said.
"It must closely combine “construction” and “combat,” taking “construction” as the root and “combat” as a regular task. Construction means building trust, willpower, Party culture, a healthy information environment, and the ideological resistance of society. Combat means fighting against what is wrong, bad, and harmful. People are at the center, cadres are the key, and the people are the yardstick and also the participants in protecting the ideological foundation of the Party."
