At a reception in Hanoi for Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Prime Minister Hung stressed the need to make the Vietnam-Cuba special friendship more effective, commensurate with the potential and political trust between the two countries.
The Prime Minister proposed that both sides closely coordinate the implementation of agreements reached by the high-level leaders; promote exchanges of delegations at all levels and sustainable cooperation; and work together on organizing activities commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of leader Fidel Castro, a great friend of the Vietnamese people (August 13).
It’s necessary to boost the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two governments and between ministries, sectors, and localities, while coordinating closely and supporting each other in multilateral forums, he said.
Ambassador Fuentes said Cuba has always considered Vietnam a close friend and a role model in the cause of national renewal and development. He expressed his desire for both sides to continue cooperating and sharing experiences, especially lessons learned from the 40 years of implementing Vietnam's Doi Moi (Renewal) policy.
The ambassador expressed his readiness to work with Vietnam to further deepen substantive cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and needs, especially agriculture and biotechnology.
