Meeting visiting Lao National Assembly President Sonexay Siphandone in Hanoi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Hung reaffirmed that Vietnam always gives top priority to its relations with Laos.
He said the Vietnamese Government would work closely with its Lao counterpart and relevant agencies to translate the shared understanding and commitments of the two countries’ senior leaders into practical cooperation programs and projects.
The two sides would regularly review progress, promptly address difficulties, and ensure the effective implementation of agreed commitments, he said. Mr. Hung also called for closer coordination between the two countries’ legislatures and governments, with the parliaments helping improve the legal framework and oversee cooperation programs and projects.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government would continue working closely with its Lao counterpart to strengthen infrastructure, energy, and digital connectivity, prioritizing transport projects, access to seaports and border gates, and logistics networks to facilitate trade, investment, and regional integration.
He also called for higher-quality cooperation in education and training and human resource development, stronger people-to-people exchanges, and effective coordination in organizing activities under the 2027 Vietnam-Laos Year of Solidarity and Friendship.
Lao National Assembly President Sonexay Siphandone affirmed that Laos would continue close coordination with Vietnam on regional and international issues of mutual concern, step up information exchanges, and coordinate positions at multilateral forums.
