Phu Quoc authorities said the boat, numbered AG-26751 and operated by Ocean Pear Island Company, was transporting tourists and crew members from Hon May Rut Ngoai Island back to An Thoi port. Roughly 400 meters from the island, the boat suddenly capsized, causing all those on board to fall into the sea.

Authorities immediately mobilized resources and personnel to the scene to carry out rescue operations and urgently investigate the cause of the incident. Rescue forces brought 18 tourists ashore and transferred them to medical facilities for emergency treatment. Search and rescue operation was still going on.
