In Hue city, authorities launched the 2026 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest and a document display design contest themed “Books and Hue Heritage.”

Organizers also introduced the publication “Selected Research on the Nguyen Dynasty,” a 2,700-page volume compiling 165 notable studies. The work contributes to a deeper understanding of the historical value of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) and reaffirms Hue’s status as a unique cultural and historical center.

“This is not only an opportunity to honor books but also a reminder of the responsibility to preserve and promote the tradition of learning. Authorities, schools, families and society should work together to build a healthy reading environment and nurture a love of books among the public,” said Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the Hue People’s Committee.

The same day, the 2026 Book and Science-Technology Festival opened in Son La Province. The event reflects the connection between traditional knowledge and modern science, between reading culture and digital technology, and between learning and practical development, said Nguyen Dinh Viet, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

“We are promoting digital transformation, applying science and technology, supporting innovation and startups, and improving public access to information.”
