(VOVworld) – S-300 missile deliveries to Iran wouldn’t threaten regional security, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.

Lavrov made the remark the day after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree removing a ban on delivering the anti-missile system to Iran. He said that, due to the previous signing of a framework agreement between Iran and the P5+1 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Russia believed that the self-imposed ban was no longer necessary. The S-300 missile system is developed to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles and would not threaten any nation’s security, he added.
