This year's theme was chosen by the Indian government to highlight yoga’s vital role in promoting health, resilience, and overall well-being at every stage of life. According to Sunil Koul of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, yoga is more than just exercise, it also supports mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. He welcomed the growing number of Yoga Day events being held across Vietnam.

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.

Recognizing its universal appeal, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21 as International Day of Yoga.
