According to Vietnam's Chargé d’Affaires in Timor-Leste Pham Binh Dam, Prime Minister Gusmão’s visit is of significant importance for bilateral relations and also for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN integration process following its admission as the bloc’s 11th member.

The visit reflects both countries’ desire to deepen cooperation in multiple areas. It is also a practical step in implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, which identifies foreign affairs as a key and regular mission supporting national security and development.

The diplomat noted that the visit is expected to elevate Vietnam–Timor-Leste relations to a new level—one that is closer, more substantive and more effective—while serving the interests of both nations and their peoples. It also contributes to building a united, inclusive and resilient ASEAN Community.

During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign several important cooperation agreements, creating a stronger legal framework and favorable conditions for expanded collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, laying a long-term foundation for bilateral ties.
