Party General Secretary and President To Lam made the statement while addressing the award ceremony of the fourth Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in Hanoi on Sunday.
Mr. Lam said that, after 40 years of renewal, with the accumulated position and power, Vietnam has all the necessary conditions to take advantage of a historic opportunity to enter a new era of national rise.
"I hope and believe that, with the established prestige and pervasiveness, the Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation will continue to reform itself, closely follow practical requirements, and serve more effectively political tasks of the country, contributing to building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam," said Mr Lam.
This year's contest drew more than 468,000 entries, including more than 35,000 essays by young people and students, 610 essays by Vietnamese people working or studying abroad, and 13 essays by foreigners.
