Speaking at a ceremony marking the 120th birth anniversary of Mr. Ha Huy Tap in Ha Tinh Province on Tuesday, Party leader and President To Lam underscored the need to continue building a law-governed socialist state while fostering a spirit of dedication, decisive action and readiness to take on challenges for the greater good of the Party and the nation.

Rapid and sustainable development requires breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and the green transition, alongside the development of high-quality human resources and modern, synchronized infrastructure, he said.

“It is essential to enhance productivity, competitiveness and economic resilience. Growth must go hand in hand with social progress and equity, cultural and human development, environmental protection, national defense and security, and socio-political stability, without sacrificing long-term values for short-term gains. All policies must aim to improve people’s well-being, with the people at the center and as the driving force of development,” the top leader noted.

Mr. Ha Huy Tap was born in Ha Tinh Province in 1906 and died in 1941. He was the third General Secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam), and made significant contributions to restoring, consolidating and developing the Party.

Working with provincial authorities the same day, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam urged Ha Tinh to develop into a key trade hub in the North Central region.

“Ha Tinh should continue to attract selective investment, prioritizing foundational industries, high technology and clean energy, while developing new growth drivers such as the green, digital and marine economies. At the same time, it should invest in strategic infrastructure, improve the efficiency of public investment, maximize the advantages of the Cau Treo International Border Gate and the East-West Economic Corridor, and strengthen connectivity with localities in Laos, Thailand and the wider region,” he said.
