Chairing the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam stressed that the review process should not just recount events in chronological order, but more importantly, clarify the essential issues and underlying principles behind Vietnam’s revolutionary achievements.

He said the review must explain why the Party was able to lead the nation through historic turning points and achieve great accomplishments; identify the decisive factors behind the victories of the Vietnamese revolution; and highlight the role of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh in national liberation, reunification, and national development.

At the same time, he emphasized the need to draw lessons of long-term value and objectively point out shortcomings and limitations in order to address them effectively, thereby shaping a development vision for the next century.

Regarding the review of 40 years of implementing the national development platform, Mr. Lam said the review should help clarify Vietnam’s development model, its path toward socialism, and the major strategic relationships governing the country’s development process which would serve as an important foundation for formulating a development platform for the new era.

The Party leader also stressed that the review process must uphold a spirit of openness, scientific rigor, and objectivity in evaluating both achievements and shortcomings, in order to reaffirm accomplishments without complacency, draw lessons from experience, and orient the country toward the future.

With the Party’s tradition of solidarity, wisdom, and resilience, along with the participation of state agencies, scientists, and experts, the Vietnamese top leader expressed confidence that Vietnam would produce a landmark review project of profound theoretical and practical significance, effectively serving the country’s strategic development planning in the new era.
