The ceremony took place at Kinh Thien Palace atop Nghia Linh Mountain in Phu Tho Province, featuring honor guards, flag bearers, young women in red ao dai carrying incense and offerings, 100 young people in traditional attire, as well as ritual music and palanquin processions.

Mr. Lam and other Party, State and local leaders respectfully offered incense, flowers and tributes in remembrance of the Hung Kings and generations of ancestors who founded, defended and expanded the nation, laying the foundations for today’s prosperous and civilized Vietnam.

Meeting local residents, the Party leader and President said the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day is a special occasion for all Vietnamese people to honor the Hung Kings, Mother Au Co, Father Lac Long Quan and generations of forebears.

He stressed that while founding the nation was the achievement of the ancestors, safeguarding and developing it is the responsibility of present and future generations.

National defense, he said, means safeguarding independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and peace, while protecting people’s well-being, cultural values, morality and national pride, and making the country stronger and more prosperous.

The top leader emphasized that patriotism and unity have been nurtured throughout history, from the Hung Kings era to the Ho Chi Minh era.

He called for carrying forward the Hung Kings spirit: relying on one another, overcoming difficulties together, taking unity as the foundation, the people as the center, culture as strength, and self-reliance and resilience as the driving force for national development.

“The Party and State always identify the people as the center, the subject and the source of strength in the cause of national construction and defense. All guidelines and policies must aim toward a better life for the people,” he said.
