According to the top leader, Vietnam is entering a new stage of development with higher demands on building a strong national defense system. He outlined tasks to be accomplished.
“It’s imperative to build the Military Region to be truly strong in politics, ideology, organization, and personnel, while improving the overall quality, level, combat readiness, and combat strength of its armed forces. Efforts should be made to vigorously innovate training, drills, education, and discipline management; promote the application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and mastery of technical equipment. It’s necessary to enhance combat capabilities in high-tech warfare, electronic warfare, and cyberspace, while placing great importance civil defense, rescue operations, and on the ability to effectively handle non-traditional security situations,” Mr. Lam said.
The General Secretary and President requested that Military Region 5 better fulfill its functions as a fighting force, a working force, and a productive labor force in the new situation; organize well-planned models for livelihood development, poverty reduction, population stabilization, political foundation building, and support for fishermen to stay at sea and border communities to stay in their land and villages. This contributes practically to socio-economic development while strengthening national defense and security, he added.
Earlier, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam visited and offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Da Nang City Memorial and visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Huynh Thi Me, born in 1924, in Hoa Cuong Ward, Da Nang City.
