In his welcoming remarks, King Frederik X said that, as one of the largest European investors in Vietnam, Denmark has considerable room and potential to expand cooperation with the country, particularly in energy, maritime industries, logistics, sustainable food, agriculture, biotechnology, and healthcare.

Mr. Lam said Vietnam is seeking high-quality foreign direct investment projects featuring advanced technology, high added value, strong spillover effects, and close links with domestic businesses.

He called on the Danish Government and relevant agencies to continue encouraging and facilitating Danish companies’ long-term investment and operations in Vietnam, particularly in renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, high technology, the green transition, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and high-tech agriculture.

The Vietnamese leader also called for stronger Danish support in green finance, technology transfer, human resource training, and business connectivity. He urged Danish financial institutions and investment funds to participate in major strategic projects in Vietnam.

“I urge Danish businesses to change their approach. First, you should move from ‘investing in Vietnam’ to ‘investing with Vietnam’ by strengthening links with domestic businesses and helping them participate more deeply in global value chains. Second, you should move from ‘producing in Vietnam’ to ‘researching, innovating, and producing in Vietnam,’ making the country a hub for research, product development, innovation, and workforce training,” said Mr. Lam.

He also called on Danish firms to shift their focus from ‘growth’ to ‘green and sustainable growth’ by working with Vietnam to develop clean energy, green logistics, low-carbon manufacturing, a circular economy, and supply chains that meet the highest standards in Europe and around the world.

Mr. Lam affirmed that the success of businesses in Vietnam is also Vietnam’s success, adding that the country is ready to work with investors to create new opportunities, generate new value, and build a prosperous and sustainable future.
