Addressing a ceremony marking the university’s 50th founding anniversary (October 27) in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary and President Lam emphasized that, building upon its existing education foundation and strengths, the university should make more significant contributions to human resource development, the refinement of institutional frameworks, the enhancement of governance capacity, and the efficient use of national resources.
He urged the institution to strive for advanced standards in education, research, and service to society so as to establish its reputation regionally and globally. The top leader underscored that the university’s growth must contribute to strengthening national development capacity and delivering tangible benefits to the people. Looking ahead, the General Secretary and President called on the university to focus on innovation, improving the quality of education, developing high-quality human resources, and nurturing talent for the nation.
"Continue to innovate curricula and training methods, ensuring a solid knowledge base while enhancing students’ capacity for practical application and problem-solving. Develop interdisciplinary programs that integrate economics and management with technology, data, and law; incorporate research findings and real-world issues into the teaching process. Place a strong emphasis on foreign language proficiency, digital literacy, critical thinking, and the ability for lifelong learning," Mr. Lam said.
"The use of artificial intelligence should help learners deepen their understanding, develop the skills to verify information, and take personal responsibility for their own learning outcomes. Innovations in teaching must be accompanied by reforms in assessment—ensuring that student competencies are evaluated accurately and that academic integrity is upheld. Prioritize the early detection and cultivation of talent; create opportunities for students to engage in research, and enhance the quality of postgraduate education," he added.
Prior to the anniversary ceremony, General Secretary and President Lam and his delegation visited the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City’s Digital Tradition Hall and left a message in the guestbook to mark the university’s 50th anniversary.
