Addressing the event, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said that Buddhism has long accompanied Vietnam throughout its history of nation-building and defense, becoming an integral part of the country’s cultural and spiritual life. He noted that Buddhism has contributed to strengthening national unity and promoting inclusive development.

The ambassador also highlighted Vietnam’s successful hosting of the UN Vesak Day 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, which brought together a large number of international monks, nuns and Buddhist followers. On that occasion, the enshrinement of sacred relics of the Buddha from India to Vietnam stood out as a vivid symbol of cultural exchange, friendship and bonds among nations.
