In a statement, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the operation is being conducted in close coordination with Iran, Oman, other Gulf coastal states, the United States and shipping industry stakeholders.
He noted that all parties have secured the necessary safety guarantees and carried out detailed assessments of maritime conditions to ensure the evacuation proceeds safely and efficiently.
The move comes as shipping operations in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz have been severely disrupted by tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
Security concerns along key maritime routes have left thousands of seafarers unable to disembark or rotate crews, adding pressure to global shipping networks.
